Compensation:

Project budget $500 per location

Project Overview:

VoteAmerica, a nonpartisan voter turnout nonprofit, has placed over 800 billboards around the country to remind voters to cast their ballots before Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024. We are looking for photographers in the following areas to take photos of a few billboards in their area to be used in the organization's annual report and fundraising documents. We are looking for 5-10 high quality photos for each city.

Locations:

  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Detroit, MI
  • El Paso, TX
  • Milwaukee, WI

The purpose of these photos is to give a better feeling of how the public might interact with these billboards.
For example:

  • Billboards with the city skyline, local monuments, plants and architecture the city is known for
  • In walkable areas, billboards on the sides of buildings
  • Billboards where you can see folks interacting with the billboards (driving by on a freeway, or walking nearby)

About VoteAmerica

VoteAmerica is a nonprofit organization that runs large scale voter registration and mobilization campaigns. Organizationally, we are tactic-agnostic and goal-oriented: we adopt and abandon tactics based on effectiveness. For our voter contact (mobilization) programs, we run multi-channel informational messages, focusing on when to vote, where to go, and what to bring. In the past, we have utilized a variety of marketing channels, including cold SMS; warm SMS; direct mail; out-of-home advertising, such as billboards and transit ads; and campus-specific media, which is a mix of digital and physical ad inventory.

VoteAmerica also works with academics to evaluate our impact, and we share our research publicly. You can read our publications at research.voteamerica.org.

How to apply and more details about the process:

  • Submit your resume as well as the answers to a couple of short questions.
  • We don't require a cover letter (because you don't want to write one and we don't want to read it).
  • Applications are processed on a rolling basis, we will accept them until the role is filled. We are, however, looking to fill this role ASAP, so you should apply as soon as you can.
  • Candidates with lived experience of or connections to marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

VoteAmerica is an equal opportunity employer. This means that we don't discriminate against people because of their race, ethnicity, sex, age, religion, national origin, marital status, pregnancy, personal appearance, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family responsibilities, matriculation, genetic information, or political affiliation.
